"Research 2.0" techniques and technologies have come of age. This panel discussion will center on emerging areas such as mobile applications – what topics make sense for mobile surveys, as well as what technologies and techniques can optimize results? Researching the power of word of mouth – not simply the content, but the impetus, sequence and source. What are non-users asking? What are users saying? How do customers actually persuade their friends to use a product? And finally, the research implications of “the wisdom of crowds” - touching on the central theory in James Surowiecki's seminal 2004 book, that a diverse collection of independently deciding individuals is likely to make certain types of decisions and predictions better than individuals or even experts. How can researchers tap into this wisdom and present it in ways beneficial to clients?
